Butterflies 2011-11-02 : I wouldn't normally make a gallery of one species of butterfly. However, these beauties were intriguing and posed so provocatively that it was hard to stop. If it's any consolation, this is a small sampling of the photos I took. Enjoy.

Flowers & Water 2011-11-03 : We were a week or two ahead of the Mums. Too bad, that means we'll "have" to go back soon. Sometimes it's fun to go just before or after a blooming season because you have to find things to photograph. I found a few things this trip. Hope you enjoy.

Deep South "Fall" : I grew up in central Pennsylvania so I know what Fall is supposed to look like. It's a little different here in the deep South. We don't get mountains that are all ablaze with fluorescent reds, pinks, yellows and orange. We have to look a little harder and and be satisfied with small pockets of color here and there.

Mums, Water Lillies and More : For best the view, Click on the Style button and Journal. The chrysanthemum display is one of the highlights of the year at Bellingrath. It's especially fun to go just after Thanksgiving because you see the Christmas displays — the undisputed Gardens highlight of the year — nestled in amongst the flowers.

Christmas 2011-12-4 : Went Bellingrath Gardens with Zoey & her Daddy this evening (12/3/2011). Had a great time. Too many people made it hard to get a decent photos. By the time we left around 7:00pm there were hundreds of people in line to purchase tickets and cars were parked about a15 minute walk to the ticket booth. We got to go back the following Tuesday evening and take "peopleless" pics which you can view here. If you live close enough I encourage you to take a few hours to enjoy the lights.

Christmas 2011-12-7 : Merry Christmas It was a cool, damp, overcast, Tuesday evening with a slight chance of rain. Visitors stayed away in droves. 2012-2-22 Hibiscus and More : A friend of mine who lives in Pennsylvania uploaded some nice macro pics to Facebook—hibiscus no less—and inspired me to get out of the house (in Mobile Alabama) and shoot a few. Haven't done that in a while. For most of the pics I used my D3100 with the 55-300 lens 'cause I don't have a macro. The depth of field is a bit shallow but I'm fairly pleased with most of these. The last ones #23-#35 were shot with my "backup" Canon SX30 IS. Man! I've got to get more familiar with that camera. It does a more than acceptable job.
